VACANCY FOR BUYER
·
Develop partnerships and seek new
suppliers as appropriate to achieve cost savings and performance improvements
·
Negotiate with agreed suppliers optimum purchasing terms of quality, price and
delivery. Monitor and communicate supplier performance
·
Purchase materials required for
production, in line with MRP& KANBAN recommendations and commercial
agreements, by means of Purchase Orders and supplier schedules
·
Work with Procurement Manager to
implement and maintain Key Supplier Agreements for short and long term supplies
·
Source new suppliers as required,
sending out drawings for quotes and assessing capabilities
·
Liaise with suppliers in response
to engineering changes, for example, issuing new drawings, managing quotations
and assessing supplier capabilities in order to support smooth new product
introduction
·
Co-ordinate materials quality and
availability issues to minimise disruption to production, and communicate
status to all parties at all times
·
Maintain system parameters to ensure MRP
integrity and accurate purchasing data
·
Some amount of travel is expected
·
Report and maintain Vendor Rating
System for Strategic Suppliers
·
Participate in the UTC Operating
System – ACE (Achieving Competitive Excellence) – training will be provided
·
CIPS qualification or study would be
useful
·
Experience of purchasing electronic
components, PCB assemblies, in the aerospace, defence or electronics industries
·
Sound knowledge of MRP, Windows, XP,
Word, & Excel
·
Ability to read / understand technical
drawings
·
Articulate, reliable, able to work in
an organized manner, & able to work under pressure
·
Possess good negotiating and
inter-personal skills
·
Self-motivated and able to deal
effectively with conflicting priorities
·
Experience of KANBAN and Just-in time
purchasing
·
Ability to communicate in German
useful but not essential
·
5 weeks holiday plus Bank Holidays,

finish on Fridays
